III. Plans
A. Professional Project ProposalFormulate method to organize law library microforms room (267 JRCB): This is part I of my goal that library users and staff will be able to use the online catalog to find any microforms owned by the law library.
1. Take a physical inventory of current microfiche configuration, titles and space requirements.
2.Determine how many microfiche titles are cataloged online, classified (with Library of Congress or Superintendent of Documents call numbers), and/or require cataloging and/or classification.
3. Review serial microfiche to determine future space requirements.
4. Weed microfiche no longer of value or needed by law library.
5. Assess AALS Recommended Book Title microfiche collection to determine:
a. a cost effective method to classify the collection,
b. time projections to catalog the collection, and
c. duplication of set with currently owned microfiche.
6. Also, do statistical sampling of government documents microfiche collection to assess book/microfiche format problems due to earlier cataloging procedures.
7. Project the time, resources and staff requirements to completely catalog, classify and shift microfiche collections.
8. Perform an inventory and assessment of microforms equipment to determine maintenance, retention and upgrade issues and recommendations (including automated payment options for user fees).
B. Teaching Project ProposalDevelop three hour legal research modules using the methodology outlined in the BYU Faculty Centers Planning Your Course: A Decision Guide for the following topics:

IV. Relationships Between Personal Goals and Institutional Mission
A. Technical Services Department
1. Mission: The Howard W. Hunter Law Library Technical Services Department Mission is to provide and improve access to law library materials using current library standards and technology in a timely and cost-effective manner. Technical Services is a support function to the law library and its various
patron groups.
2. Relationship: My goals and plans are closely related to my departments goals. My professional project will improve library user and staff access to the microfiche collection. My teaching project will provide feedback to determine whether technical services goals are being met in specific subject areas. My citizenship and scholarship plans are designed to improve technical services functions.
B. Howard W. Hunter Law Library
1. Mission Statement: The Hunter Library is a repository of civilization, which we cherish, preserve, and share by providing students, faculty, and the greater community a center for information access, world-class facilities, collection, and services. We accomplish this by: providing organized, current and extensive on-site/off-site resources that support curriculum and research; providing courteous, timely and knowledgeable service; fostering an environment of cooperation, discovery, learning and respect in our relationship with each other as well as with our patrons; equipping patrons with a sound foundation for independent legal research and problem solving.
2. Relationship: My goals and plans are aimed at contributing to the librarys
provision of information in many areas. In addition, I seek to establish and strengthen personal links with other professionals who can help the law library achieve its mission.
C. J. Reuben Clark Law School
1. Mission: The J. Reuben Clark Law Schools mission is to provide an excellent legal education and offer diverse opportunities for legal scholarship.
2. Relationship: My work and research interests include assisting the law schools students, professors and administration in achieving this mission by enhancing access to legal materials of various formats and topics, particularly microforms and federal and state government documents.
D. Brigham Young University
1. Mission Statement: The mission of Brigham Young University
is to assist individuals in their quest for perfection and eternal life.
2. Relationship: I hope to contribute to such a quest in both large and small ways. On a meta-level, I plan to contribute to the broad discussions at BYU centering on law and religion, ethics, morality and the purpose of higher education. On a smaller scale, my goal is to perform my daily tasks well in order to improve BYU law library users access to needed information.
